Pran Mudra

The Gesture of Life

Other names: Prana Mudra, Kapha-Kaarak Mudra and Pitta-Naashak Mudra.

Kapha and Pitta are Ayurvedic Doshas. They are two-thirds of the Tridosha, the third being Vata Dosha.

Kapha Dosha is a combination of the Earth and Water elements.

Kaarak – to increase.

Pitta Dosha is a combination of the Fire and Water elements.

Naashak – to decrease.

This mudra is known as a cure all. In as little as 15 minutes, applied with both hands, this mudra can revitalize the entire body. For chronic conditions, if you have time, you can hold the Pran Mudra for 45 minutes straight.

Tip: Use it for 10-15 minutes immediately after any other mudra in order to experience faster results.

If you were to only ever use one mudra, this should be it.

Sword Fingers

The Pran Mudra is also used in a Qi Gong healing technique called “Sword Fingers.”

Healing energy is transmitted via intention and visualization through the tips of the index and middle fingers in order to remove an energy blockage in any area of the body that requires treatment. This is usually done on patients, but one can also heal themselves with this technique.
